Panoramic walk starting from Limonta (210 m) and going up to Limontasca (590 m), continuing towards Chevrio (580 m) and the Belvedere di Makallé (635 m) and then descending to the starting point along the est coast of Mount Garnasca. In Guello a short detour allows you to visit a perfectly preserved Masso Avello (the Massi Avelli are granite rocks that were excavated by the Lombards in the fifth and sixth century to use for tombs). The circular excursion does not present difficulties and the paths are well signposted. You will depart from the Limonta pier, where the boats of the Navigazione Laghi dock between April and October. Not far away you’ll find the bus stops (LineeLecco) that guarantee connections between Lecco and Bellagio all year round.
From the port you’ll reach the state road 583. Here, turn right and after a few steps follow the sign on your left for Limonta Alta. Begin the ascend meandering between beautiful villas and when the carriage road becomes a path you’ll enter the woods. When you arrive at the farmhouse right turn following the signs for Limontasca, continue the ascend witnessing magnificent views of Limonta, Lierna and the center of the lake along the way. Once at the Tempietto di Sant'Antonio veer to the left and at the next junction turn right onto path n.23. Once the climb is over, you’ll leave the woods and arrive at a beautiful clearing at the gates of Limontasca. Walk along the magnificent stretch of the Sentiero del Tivano, here the views of Bellagio and Lake Como are unique, a world wonder. Near Guello an arrow on the left indicates a detour to the Masso Avello, leave the woods once again and head for this ancient granite artifact.
Returning to your tracks in a short time you’ll reach Chevrio, pass through the middle of the village continuing uphill along the paved road, go past the agricultural company I Drenn and the Trattoria Baita Belvedere marching on to the panoramic point of Makallé. The view from the Belvedere of Makallé makes all the effort worthwhile. After a short stop, continue downhill on the dirt road, at the following intersections be sure to always turn right and travel along the Tivano Path towards Limonta. Halfway, after a nice stretch, veer to the left on path n.27, the descent will become steep and Limonta will appear closer and closer. Once you have arrived at the church of Saints Ambrose & Bernardo, descend between the houses of the village and return to the port.
