The SS. Trinità di Argegno stands at the mouth of the Telo torrent, just a stone’s throw from Lake Como. The parish church was built in the initial years of the 20th century, and was consecrated in 1927 by the Bishop of Como, Adolfo Luigi Pagani. The new church was built to substitute the ancient parish church built in the 16th century and located in downtown. The new building, designed by engineer Cesare Nava, is built in a Neo-Romanesque style, with a single nave layout, has an amazing glass rose window portraying various saints in the façade.
Below the rose window, and on each side of the door, we can admire some mosaics portraying the four Evangelists together with Saints Abbondio and Anna, works donated by the Giussani family to the parish of Argegno. Inside, along the left wall is a splendid 17th-century painting, portraying the Nativity scene, which comes from the old church. Beside the main altar are two statues of the Blessed Virgin and St.Joseph. There are two exceptionally made granite stoups which support the stage and the antique organ.
The Church of the Holy Trinity holds a 19th-century sculpture of Baby Jesus. On New Year’s Day, during the “Live Nativity Scene” event, also called "dei Capell", the statue is carried in a procession through the streets of Argegno. Argegno’s Live Nativity Scene is world famous, and involves the entire town and its hamlets, a not-to-be-missed appointment that has been repeated for four centuries.
We recommend a visit to the Island on the day of the Sagra dei Lumaghitt, which celebrates St.Giovanni on June 24th with grand illuminations on Lake Como and the mass celebrated on the ruins of the St.Eufemia basilica.

NavigationBrienno preserves its origins of a medieval village, the stone houses based in the water, the narrow streets barely separating the buildings; beautiful porticos, stairways and underpasses make this place a true gem.
